HEADLINING THIS YEAR:

Smokey Greene

www.smokeygreene.com

Smokey Greene is a true pioneer in country music.  He is one of the few entertainers who can walk on stage with just a guitar and have the audience demanding more at the end of the set.  No matter who you are, there will be at least one song that he sings that will touch you.  He entertains with the deft touch of a magician and can deliver the message in a song like no other.  Be it funny or sad, his choice of material is truly unique.  Promoters wanting to give their audience something different should consider including Smokey on their next show, you will not be disappointed!

The Dorefels

www.thedorefels.com

Take 2 parents and 10 kids, put them in a 40-foot bus, and send them on the road for 3 years playing their music. What do you get? The Doerfels, an amazing 12 member family bluegrass band, who’ve wowed audiences and impressed critics from Branson, MO up and down the East Coast, to Canada. What makes them remarkable is their average age is 15 years old!

Despite their youth, one Keys reporter has said about their show, “Seasoned musicians watched in awe….” The core band consists of the oldest son and leader TJ, 19, on banjo; Kim, 17, on the fiddle; Eddy, 15, on mandolin; Joey, 14, on bass and cello; and Ben, 12, on guitar. The whole family joins in on certain songs and adds humor to the act, making it entertaining for all ages.

If you like country, gospel, and bluegrass, interspersed with a touch of blues, jazz, swing, and classical, you’ll want to catch this outstanding, young talented band! See why “The Doerfel Family is a force to be reckoned with.”* No strings attached!

Both Brian and Dr. Mike provide lead and harmony vocals and with Harry adding the third part, they produce some of the finest vocal blends around. With their wealth of original material and their unique version of time-tested traditionals, Cabin Fever Bluegrass delivers crowd pleasing performances with music that stirs emotions and songs that touch the heart.

The Delaney Brothers

www.delaneybrothers.com

Delaney Brothers Bluegrass is a central New York-based contemporary bluegrass band that has built a widespread reputation through dedication and hard work to the furtherance and professionalism of bluegrass music.  This year, Delaney Brothers Bluegrass celebrates 28 years of entertaining bluegrass audiences throughout the northeastern United States at various concerts, private parties, and bluegrass festivals.

Forming in the summer of 1981, brothers Ray and John Delaney saw the need for a fresh local central New York bluegrass group to promote the "New Traditionalism" of bluegrass music through professional appearance, tight vocals, and new and different instrumental arrangements. Since its inception, the band has seen a lot of success on the bluegrass circuit, not the least of which was being invited to be a Showcase Band at the 2001 Annual IBMA Convention in Louisville, KY. They have shared the stage with Dr. Ralph Stanley, The Seldom Scene, Alison Krauss, The Del McCoury Band, Doyle Lawson and Quicksilver, and the "Father of Bluegrass" himself, Bill Monroe.

The Kickin Grass Band

www.kickingrass.com

Up-and-coming bluegrass group, The Kickin Grass Band, have set themselves a cut above the rest with their tight vocal harmony, driving instrumentation and effusive energy on and off the stage.

The band prides itself on reaching all types of bluegrass and non-bluegrass audiences, incorporating standard bluegrass tunes, rock & country classics and a number of "can't get 'em out of yer head" originals into their entertaining sets.

The Kickin Grass Band takes the stage, and suddenly you’re captivated by pure, strong voices telling true-to-life stories spiced with innovative bluegrass instrumentation. You fall in love with the rootsy, Americana style, and can't wait for more. Fortunately, their third release, simply titled The Kickin Grass Band, displays all the chops, emotion and effusive energy of the band’s live show.

Since 1989, Vern Young has been a resident of Lamar, Missouri. It was after his retirement and move to Missouri from Salt Lake City, Utah that Vern started back into country/bluegrass music which he has always loved. Vern was inducted into "America's Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame" on September 1, 2002 in the state of Iowa. On October 29, 2006, Vern was inducted into the "New York State Country Music Hall of Honor" in Cortland, New York.

Vern spent his early years in Palmyra, N.Y. where he began playing for round and square dances at the local Grange dance when he was 15 years old. He says "that changed my whole life", as he had been

Upon his retirement he was invited to entertain at a bluegrass concert at the University of Utah, in Salt Lake. The response he received from this event convinced Vern it was time to perform professionally once again. Now country/bluegrass lovers are lucky he graces the stage with his beautiful, clear baritone voice

Adam Dewey and Crazy Creek

http://www.adamdewey.com/index.htm

The resurgence in the popularity of bluegrass music started by movies like "O Brother Where Art Thou" has brought recognition to the bands that have been keeping the bluegrass flame alive in Boston for many years. Chief among them is Adam Dewey and Crazy Creek. This traditional, roots-oriented bluegrass band has been performing on the Boston music scene since 1993.

Combining the influences of Bill Monroe, the Stanley Brothers, Flatt and Scruggs and Boston's own Joe Val with their own musical sensibilities, the band has developed a sound that pays homage to tradition, breaks new ground and is, without doubt, their own. This deep-grooved sound and the band's electric stage presence are evident on their live recording, "Live at the Cantab", and their 1999 self-titled debut CD. They have an energetic performing style that has entertained festival audiences in Canada and Europe as well as throughout the Northeast.

With their powerful trio vocals, their repertoire of gospel quartets featuring Scruggs-style guitar and their driving instrumental styles, Crazy Creek has developed a reputation as one of the top bluegrass outfits in New England.
