HEADLINING THIS YEAR:

Smokey Greene

www.smokeygreene.com

Smokey Greene is a true pioneer in country music.  He is one of the few entertainers who can walk on stage with just a guitar and have the audience demanding more at the end of the set.  No matter who you are, there will be at least one song that he sings that will touch you.  He entertains with the deft touch of a magician and can deliver the message in a song like no other.  Be it funny or sad, his choice of material is truly unique.  Promoters wanting to give their audience something different should consider including Smokey on their next show, you will not be disappointed!

The Dorefels

www.thedorefels.com

Take 2 parents and 10 kids, put them in a 40-foot bus, and send them on the road for 3 years playing their music. What do you get? The Doerfels, an amazing 12 member family bluegrass band, who’ve wowed audiences and impressed critics from Branson, MO up and down the East Coast, to Canada. What makes them remarkable is their average age is 15 years old!

Despite their youth, one Keys reporter has said about their show, “Seasoned musicians watched in awe….” The core band consists of the oldest son and leader TJ, 19, on banjo; Kim, 17, on the fiddle; Eddy, 15, on mandolin; Joey, 14, on bass and cello; and Ben, 12, on guitar. The whole family joins in on certain songs and adds humor to the act, making it entertaining for all ages.

If you like country, gospel, and bluegrass, interspersed with a touch of blues, jazz, swing, and classical, you’ll want to catch this outstanding, young talented band! See why “The Doerfel Family is a force to be reckoned with.”* No strings attached!

Brian Jiguere’s melodic mandolin and the lightening fast licks of Harry Ralph’s fiddle join forces with Mike Tirella’s jackhammer rhythm guitar and Bill Lewis’ hard driving bass to produce the unique sound and energy that is Cabin Fever Bluegrass. Both Brian and Dr. Mike provide lead and harmony vocals and with Harry adding the third part, they produce some of the finest vocal blends around. With their wealth of original material and their unique version of time-tested traditionals, Cabin Fever Bluegrass delivers crowd pleasing performances with music that stirs emotions and songs that touch the heart.

Remington Ride

Emerging as one of the hottest bluegrass bands from Central Pennsylvania is Remington Ryde. The band was formed in November of 2002 with the sole purpose of promoting bluegrass music throughout the state.  They continue to grow in popularity, winning over crowds throughout the country.  They have released four full length albums and one single, “I’ll Wait for You,” that has been played by bluegrass radio stations throughout the country. They have successfully hosted the 3rd Annual Remington Ryde Bluegrass Festival and announced the date for the 4th festival on July 16-18, 2010 in Reedsville, Pennsylvania.

Their relentless touring schedule, consisting of over 80 shows per year, has earned them the reputation of one of the busiest bands in all of bluegrass music. They are loved by festival-goers and bluegrass fans from all over the country. The band is exploding into the national scene.

Remington Ryde released their first professional project in 2007, produced by Green Valley Records in Hughesville, Pennsylvania.  This album earned them a showcase in 2008 at Cabin Fever in Hampton, Virginia.  The popularity of this album helped the group land contracts at some of the top bluegrass festivals in the country.  This includes appearances at Bluegrass Festivals in Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, and North Carolina -- Wind Gap, OATS, AFBA, Bluegrass by the Lakes, Mountain Top, Crows Nest, Pocono Mountain, Smoked Country Jam, NEPA, Pickin’ in the Pasture, Catskill Mountain, Thousand Island, Norwich Family, Top of the Hill, Bluegrass in Greenville, Sagebrush Round-up, Lorraine Jordan’s Carolina Road Festival, Bluegrass by the Lakes, Bluegrass Blast, and the White Oak Shores Festival. Other notable festivals include the Pemi Valley Bluegrass Festival in Campton, New Hampshire; James King Bluegrass Festival, Grottoes Family Bluegrass Festival, Lucketts Community Center, and the Central Virginia Bluegrass Festival in Virginia; The Arcadia Bluegrass Festival in Maryland; Bluegrass in Super Class and The Greenwich Bluegrass Festival in Ohio; The Peninsula Bluegrass Festival and Wilmington Wintergrass in Delaware; and many more.

It is no mystery why this band is becoming so popular so quickly.  They play a wide range of traditional and contemporary bluegrass while demonstrating superb showmanship, impressively tight harmonies, and original material.  Each musician is as personable as they are talented; making sure the audience comes first.  The band gives 110% on every performance, from their entertaining and energetic stage personalities to the lively interaction and conversation with any and all who visit after the show.  It is really quite simple - Remington Ryde loves what they do and it shows!!!

Vern Young

http://redrivervalley.iwebland.com/vern.html

Since 1989, Vern Young has been a resident of Lamar, Missouri. It was after his retirement and move to Missouri from Salt Lake City, Utah that Vern started back into country/bluegrass music which he has always loved. He began booking bluegrass festivals, fairs and concerts throughout the midwestern, southern, northern and eastern states.

Vern was inducted into "America's Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame" on September 1, 2002 in the state of Iowa. On October 29, 2006, Vern was inducted into the "New York State Country Music Hall of Honor" in Cortland, New York.

Vern spent his early years in Palmyra, N.Y. where he began playing for round and square dances at the local Grange dance when he was 15 years old. He says "that changed my whole life", as he had been

Upon his retirement he was invited to entertain at a bluegrass concert at the University of Utah, in Salt Lake. The response he received from this event convinced Vern it was time to perform professionally once again. Now country/bluegrass lovers are lucky he graces the stage with his beautiful, clear baritone voice

Carol Beaugard & Odyssey Drive

http://www.hvmusic.com:80/listing/bands_detail.php?listing_id=1093

"Odyssey Drive” performs driving bluegrass with an edge. We also show our softer side with gorgeous, emotional ballads and instrumentals. Exceptional originals and covers with a contemporary sound, humor and a great sense of fun are our special ingredients.

At the heart of “Odyssey Drive” are its founding members, lead vocalist, Carol Beaugard, and mandolin master, Wayne Fugate. Carol is best known for her work as a radio DJ, host of ‘Lonesome Pine RFD’ heard on 89.1, WFDU-FM (in NYC) and worldwide on WAMU’s ‘Bluegrass Country’. She’s the band’s lead vocalist and her voice has been described as having the beautiful qualities of Alison Krauss and Claire Lynch combined with the powerful force of Rhonda Vincent.

Wayne is a master mandolin player, who’s studied and played with Barry Mitterhoff and Mike Marshall. Other credits include stage work with Tony Trischka, Hazel Dickens, Walt Michael & Co, Jay Ungar & Molly Mason, Kenny Kosek, Grammy winner Lisa Gutkin and the band ‘Out to Lunch’.
